Determination of the nonlinear harmonic current and voltage oscillations in the power supply network by means of harmonic analysis.

task / PROBLEM

For some time now, increased screen flicker has been observed at computer workstations. It is suspected that this behavior is caused by "harmonics" in the power grid. Other dramatic effects detected include the spontaneous destruction of new high-performance frequency converters for inexplicable reasons.

solution

Through longer measurement campaigns, it could be determined that the causes of the above problems originate from some frequency converters used, due to 3rd 5th and 7th order nonlinearities. To solve this problem, active filter circuits are used which adaptively compensate for the harmonic oscillations that occur.
