Automatic redistribution and sorting of tit balls using ascending and cross conveyor belts and pneumatically controlled flaps.


task / PROBLEM

The goal of this project was to increase the throughput of titmouse dumplings produced. A closer look revealed a bottleneck between the producing units and the packaging units.

solution

In order to eliminate this bottleneck and make it expandable in terms of capacity, a buffer unit was created between the two units that is able to perform a re-sorting of the producing units to the packaging units. Four ascending conveyors transport the incoming titmouse dumplings to pneumatically controlled flaps, which are able to pass the dumplings directly to the packaging unit or to divert them to the two cross conveyors. At the same time, the titmouse dumplings can be transported away from the two cross conveyor belts to the packaging unit. The entire system was implemented with a programmable logic controller (PLC) that controls the speed of the conveyor belts, the open-close flap cycle time, and the visualization of the entire system.
